About Directorate of Distance Education

The Directorate of Distance Education was established during 1999-2000 just after the joining of Dr. S. N. Prasad as the Vice- Chancellor of Jai Prakash University on 23 rd June 1998. The Institute has been setup to meet the current challenges and attain the following objectives.

Providing access to high quality education to all those who seek it irrespective of their age and region.

Offering need based - academic programmes by giving professional and vocational orientation to the courses.Setting and maintaining standard in distance education in the country.

The Directorate of Distance Education operates through Study Centres. Each centre is headed by a co-ordinator who arranges to plan, supervise, develop and organise its academic programmes and courses in co-ordination with the centre staff and different academic, administrative and service wings of the University. The emphasis is on providing a wide choice of courses at different levels. Presently the Bachelor of Computer Application course is in operation.
